A Directional Diffusion Algorithm for Inpainting
نویسندگان
چکیده
The problem of inpainting involves reconstructing the missing areas of an image. Inpainting has many applications, such as reconstructing old damaged photographs or removing obfuscations from images. In this paper we present the directional diffusion algorithm for inpainting. Typical diffusion algorithms are bad at propagating edges from the image into the unknown masked regions. The directional diffusion algorithm improves on the regular diffusion algorithm by reconstructing edges more accurately. It scores better than regular diffusion when reconstructing images that are obfuscated by a text mask.

PDE-Based Anisotropic Disparity-Driven Stereo Vision
Recent variational stereo approaches suffer from at least one of the following drawbacks: Either they use an isotropic disparity-driven smoothness term that ignores the directional information of the disparity field, or they apply anisotropic imagedriven regularisation that suffers from oversegmentation artifacts. As a remedy, we present a novel anisotropic disparity-driven approach for stereo ...
متن کاملDistributed and Cooperative Compressive Sensing Recovery Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks with Bi-directional Incremental Topology
Recently, the problem of compressive sensing (CS) has attracted lots of attention in the area of signal processing. So, much of the research in this field is being carried out in this issue. One of the applications where CS could be used is wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The structure of WSNs consists of many low power wireless sensors. This requires that any improved algorithm for this appli...
متن کاملDenoising by Inpainting
The filling-in effect of diffusion processes has been successfully used in many image analysis applications. Examples include image reconstructions in inpainting-based compression or dense optic flow computations. As an interesting side effect of diffusion-based inpainting, the interpolated data are smooth, even if the known image data are noisy: Inpainting averages information from noisy sourc...
متن کاملDeinterlacing with Motion-Compensated Anisotropic Diffusion
We present a novel deinterlacing scheme that makes consequent use of discontinuity-preserving partial differential equations (PDEs). It combines the accuracy of recent variational motion estimation techniques with the directional interpolation qualities of anisotropic diffusion filters. Our algorithm proceeds in three steps: First, we interpolate the interlaced images by means of a spatial edge...
متن کاملImage Inpainting Using Directional Tensor Product Complex Tight Framelets
Different from an orthonormal basis, a tight frame is an overcomplete and energy-preserving system with flexibility and redundancy. Many image restoration methods employing tight frames have been developed and studied in the literature. Tight wavelet frames have been proven to be useful in many applications. In this paper we are particularly interested in the image inpainting problem using dire...
